Varsity vs Springport High School (36 - 44) Loss The girls varsity lost their season opener 44-36 to Springport. The girls cut Springport’s lead to 4 late in the 4th quarter but couldn’t get closer than that. Leading Athens was Whitney Hernandez with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mallory Kincaid added 9 points and 6 steals. Maria Bronsink chipped in 9 points all in the second half.
