7th Grade vs Hillsdale Academy (12 - 24) Loss 8th Grade vs Hillsdale Academy (20 - 35) Loss 6/7 The Athens 7th-grade boys basketball team got its season underway on Wednesday night, traveling to Hillsdale Academy to take on the Colts. After a scoreless first few minutes, Porter Swartz got the Purple and White on the board with his first bucket of the night. A back-and-forth tight contest would go to the fourth quarter with Athens trailing, but four 4th quarter points from Colten Snodderly were not enough for the Indians to complete the comeback. Athens will be back in action on Monday night, when they host Bellevue at Athens Field House. 7/8- The Athens 8th-grade boys basketball team kicked off its season on Wednesday night, taking on the Colts of Hillsdale Academy in Hillsdale. Graham Bronsink sank two early threes in the opening half of action, pulling the Indians within striking distance at the half. Bronsink finished with 10 points on the night. Tough defense from Cameron Krontz and Aiden Duncan fueled a comeback late in the fourth quarter, but four points from Stetson Bard down the stretch were not enough for the Purple and White, falling 35-20 to open the season.
